Oct 21, 2008 - Proposal Pack Wizard 4.1 released with many new features and improvements such as complete integration with our Contract Pack contract templates and support for 3rd party application integration.

Jan 1, 2008 - Over 500 pages of new content has been added to Proposal Kit Pro V12 and over 300 pages of new content has been added to the Proposal Packs V9. Over 40 new contracts have also been added along with many more updates and additions. See below for details.

New in Proposal Pack Wizard 4.1:

  • Added a new mail merge dynamic data type “CURRENTDAYNUMSTR” to support Contract Pack contract templates.  The <<CurrentDay>> mail merge tag string has been changed to use this data type by default. This data type will create the <<CurrentDay>> mail merge tag as the string “1st”, “2nd”, “3rd”, etc.  This is used in contract strings such as “this <<CurrentDay>> day of” which if it was on the 22nd of the month would become “this 22nd day of”.

  • The buttons on the Proposal Styles page for purchasing new Proposal Packs will take you to the specials page for a discount on new Proposal Packs.

  • An obsolete warning message about out of date Proposal Pack styles was changed.

  • The Contract and Terms page header was being removed when contracts were integrated into a proposal in some cases. This behavior is now consistent with the Proposal Project settings being used.

  • A potential problem with the Table of Contents page numbering was fixed.

  • A potential problem with the page footer not being included when the final FullProposal.doc file is generated was fixed.

  • The Wizard now automatically runs when launched from the desktop and start menu shortcuts.

  • New in Proposal Pack Wizard 4.0

  • Better integration with our Contract Pack contract documents has been added.  Now you can use the Wizard to manage your contract documents separately or include them in your proposal.  This feature also automatically inserts all of the referenced Exhibit/Schedule templates at the same time. The specific Contract Pack you have installed will be detected by the Wizard and can be selected as one of your proposal types when you create a new project. This feature can be configured using the Preferences tool “Configure Contract Files”.

  • A new feature has been added for integrating 3rd party generated documents such as contracts, quotes, invoices, etc. into your proposal. Now you can automate integration with your other business document creation software better. See the “3rd Party” tab in the “Preferences” screen.

  • Proposal Pack Wizard will detect if the 3rd party quoting application Quosal is installed on your system and will set it up in the 3rd Party tools #2 slot.

  • When using the PlainText or Government Grants themes (i.e. the themes that use plain text headers in each template instead of an embedded bitmap graphic design), the Wizard will now change the header of each template during assembly of the proposal if you have retitled the page header in the database.  This is useful for large government grants where a single template is used multiple times in the proposal with different chapter headers such as the “Worksheet” template.  For example if you create a proposal using the Worksheet template and you add it multiple times titled “Form SF-424”, “Fixed Sites” and “Non-Fixed Sites” both the Table of Contents and the page headers for each of those 3 pages will be changed to match your new page header text.

  • The Wizard can now replace the “Project” placeholder in the Title Page template with your own custom logo graphic in the PlainText and Government Grants styles which do not come with an embedded graphic design.

  • A File Location Report tool has been added to the Wizard Preferences. This tool will generate a report showing you all of the locations on your hard drive the various files used by Proposal Pack and the Wizard are located including your projects, installed Proposal Pack templates, installed Contract Pack templates, Wizard database files, etc.

  • Added the ability to remap Proposal Pack mail merge tags to alternate tags to help support integration with 3rd party applications which will be used to add further data to the proposal documents created by Proposal Pack and Proposal Pack Wizard.

  • Added 20 new contract mail merge tags to support the integration of Contract Pack templates: <<ContractCompany>>, <<Approver>>, <<Month>>, <<Amount>>, <<Supervisor>>,<<Department>>, <<InsuranceCoverageAmount>>, <<Credits>>, <<SSN>>, <<HREmail>>, <<HRPhone>>, <<HRContactName>>, <<TimeZone>>, <<Date>>,  <<Minutes>>, <<Hours>>, <<Days>>, <<Months>>, <<Years>>, <<Weeks>>

  • The Graphics tab on the Edit Styles screen is now set as the default tab first seen when the screen opens.

  • Colon and equal signs are not allowed in the template titles and file names. Extra error checking has been added to prevent this when adding new templates.

  • The “Compress Templates” tool is now obsolete and has been removed from the preferences.

  • The “Test Database” tool was reporting errors that were not real errors in the database files.  These erroneous error messages have been removed.

  • Fixed some cases of template names having mixed cases between database files (i.e.  “Long Form” vs. “long form”) which are now all consistently named.

  • The “Reset to Default” button in the “Edit Style” screen now resets the path to the graphics files.

  • The Recommend Wizard screen display is cleaned up when the database has blank section headers.

  • The database folder used by this version of the Wizard has been changed to “Database_V4”.

  • The project folder used by this version of the Wizard has been changed to “ProposalProjects_V4”

  • The Wizard allows you to enter alternate text to be used in place of the <<Domain>> tag in your proposal footer, such as your company name, etc.

  • The Wizard can now detect and display an error if your Windows Registry settings for the Wizard do not exist. This typically happens when moving the Wizard incorrectly from one computer to another, or logging in as a new user other than the one the Wizard was originally installed for.

  • The maximum number of projects the Wizard will support in a single database has been increased from 100 to 150.

  • When generating a proposal, the Wizard will now display a message about any of the mail merge tags which did not have data filled in for them in your Proposal Project. This message can be disabled in the Preferences.

  • Added 2 new company mail merge tags <<Address3>> and <<MobilePhone>>

  • Added 2 new customer mail merge tags <<CustAddress3>> and <<CustMobilePhone>>

  • Fixed tab orderings for consistent tab navigation in a number of screens.

  • Added a Search For Installs button in the Preferences Tools tab. This performs the same function as the Search for Styles button in the Proposal Styles screen. This makes it easier to install new Proposal Packs and setup 3rd party applications after the Wizard has been installed.

  • Added a button on Proposal Styles screen to launch web browser to display the Proposal Pack product web page to make it easier to purchase additional Proposal Pack styles.

  • Added a Preferences option to reduce the number of informational message boxes displayed during the proposal generation process. 

  • A new method of removing templates from the Proposal Project’s Recommend Wizard has been added. Now you can select from a list of templates to remove selected ones in a batch which makes the process much less time consuming.

  • Added new tests to the Test Database preferences tool.

  • Lots of additional refinements to the interface, messages and text for usability and readability.
